Syncing Treo 750 with Vista

Filed under: Tips and Tricks — admin at 9:06 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2007

In order to sync the Treo 750 with Vista, you must download and install a beta version of Windows Mobile Device Center.   WMDC is currently in Beta 3.  You can not use ActiveSync with Vista.  I have installed WMDC B3 on my laptop running Vista Ultimate and it works without a hitch.

Microsoft will be releasing Vista January 30.  You can download the WMDC beta from here

Enable HSPDA on the 750

Mashie over at Howardforums published this tip:

“It looks like someone over at Treo Central figured out how to enable HSPDA on the 750. I don’t live in an area that has HSPDA yet so I have no way to test it. Here are the instructions and thanks to bigben for posting over there…

I like a number of you have tried to get the HSDPA working on the Treo 750v. I believe I have stumbled into the solution.

First, go to a German site called fit4communication anytime at http://www.fit4cat.de/thread.php?threadid=91. Down load a program called “fit4cat Hermes Tweaker” (Windows loader version is what I used). Unzip the file and install it to your Treo 750v.

Second, go to XDA Developers at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index…e=Hermes_Utils and download SetHSDPAv2.zip. Unzip the file and copy to the mobile device windows directory.

Third, on your Treo 750v start the “fit4cat” program. Scroll done and click the phone tab, select “enable” for HSDPA. Click “File” option on the bottom of the screen, selecting the save before exit option.

The Treo 750v will do a soft reboot.”

Editor Note:  Warning, do this and any registry hack at your own risk.

Treo 750 Loses miniSD Card connection

Filed under: Tips and Tricks — admin at 11:17 pm on Thursday, January 18, 2007

A couple of users have complained that the 750 has a hard time recognizing certain miniSD cards.  They report that the device sees the miniSD card for a couple minutes then it doesn’t. Some users report this happening 10-20 times a day.

To date here are a few cards that users report are NOT experiencing this issue:

SanDisk 256 MB
Transcend 2 GB (seems to be the Best Bet)
Kingston 512 MB
SanDisk 1 GB
AData 1 GB
Palm 2GB (update:  Unconfirmed reports that the Palm 2 GB cards have the problem)
IO 1 GB
